Self-help groups

One of the most frequent activities at the association is support groups, also known as self-help groups.

This group aims to be a meeting place for people who stutter, where we can share our personal experiences related to stuttering, but also to any other topic. Obviously, the group’s primary principle is that it must be a safe and confidential space for all participants.

From there, the group’s objectives have two main focuses.

The first is to provide an opportunity to share and learn from one another. Finding a space where people who stutter can connect is truly powerful, especially when you’ve never had the chance to do so before.

The second is that, through each participant’s personal commitment, everyone will also have the opportunity to deepen their self-awareness, acceptance, and improve their overall quality of life.

Currently, support groups meet in person in Barcelona. They are held on Saturday afternoons and are held monthly.

Anyone who stutters is welcome to attend. More regular attendance is contingent upon becoming a member of ATCAT.
Furthermore, attendance by others who do not stutter but are interested is contingent upon the group members feeling comfortable and agreeing to it.
